I just subtly !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! someone's spelling, yet English isn't my first language and I'm sure I make many mistakes myself. Am I an asshole? Should I feel bad?

I'm neither from the UK nor the US, I can pick whatever spelling I choose. Color or colour, tire or tyre, they're all correct. I'd like to believe they are.

I do prefer the UK spelling and pronunciation. It's just that I'm much more subjected to US speech and writing that the US way seems more natural to me.

I know. I'm just the sort of person who'll occasionally say, 'zed' when they're watching American television.

(Also, don't tell anyone, but I totally spelt arsehole the American way for years! I'm deeply ashamed.)

(Totally - used in that sense, at least - is also an Americanism.)
